I have worked on projects and in roles that involve public programming and interpretation, exhibit development, and evaluation.

My background in interpreting living collections began with seasonal positions in the Education Department of the Louisville Zoo while I was earning my B.A. in History.

During my graduate work, I was very fortunate to have a fellowship position based at the Indianapolis Zoo, conducting evaluation related to the development of the International Orangutan Center (opened 2014).  I spent over a year immersed in the planning for that exhibit; designing and carrying out evaluation of the interpretive labels, graphics, and interactives created for that space. This and numerous other projects are highlighted on my Projects page.

I have worked on all sides of interpretation-- being tasked with conveying established content and involved with creating and assessing it. I have thoroughly enjoyed the exhibit and curriculum development processes in which I have been involved, and the major lesson I have taken away from those experiences is the importance of considering the visitor in every layer of the experience your team is creating!
